Estradiol valerate is a novel estrogen, whose structure is similar to that of 17β-estradiol and which is rapidly metabolized to 17β-estradiol and valeric acid. It has a shorter half-life than ethinyl estradiol and fewer effects on the liver, and is supposed to have fewer adverse effects.
