Definition: 3 mon+ of productive cough occurring within 2 years

Affect conducting pathway

• Pathophysiology:
  • increased mucus production (increased goblet cells)
  • fibrosis of bronchioles
• S/S:
  • Less Dyspnea (due to brain chemostasis → re-adjusting threshold PaCO2 for Hyperventilation (RR > 30) )
  • Decreased PaO2, increased PaCO2
  • Decreased V/Q ratio
• Prognosis:
  • more exacerbation

DDx:

• Asthma
  • Age of onset, ID allergen, smoking Hx
