Direct Antiglobulin Test: hemolysis cause
The DAT (also known as the direct Coombs test) specifically detects immunoglobulin (IgG, IgM, or IgA) and/or complement (typically C3d) bound to the surface of a patient's red blood cells, which is critical for diagnosing immune-mediated hemolysis such as autoimmune hemolytic anemia or hemolytic transfusion reactions.[1-3]
