Summary

Can be held under Criteria A or Criteria B

Effect:

• Hold for only 72 hrs (in total), can be spaced out
• vs. Form 3 (2 wk) : 2 weeks, Pt can contest with capacity board with lawyer
• Inform Pt regarding Form 1 decision using Form 42

Criteria (Box A)

• Mental Health
• Imminent (urgency) risk of harm to self
  • Immediate = emergency
    • Emergency = Can be treated without consent
    • Urgent = Can’t treat without consent
• Assessed within 7 days
• Form Instruction
  • “My own observations” = HPI
  • “Facts communicated to me by others” = Past Psych Hx
  • Future Test MUST be consistent with Past/Present Test

Criteria (Box B)

• Usually only used by psychiatrist → for Pt with chronic mental health disorder
