Mild cognitive impairment
Diagnosis
- Subjective cognitive changes: Patient self-report (or collateral)
- Objective cognitive changes: Positive MOCA (≥26/30) or MMSE (≥24/30)
- Not necessary to make the diagnosis
- Function not affected (ADL and IADL NOT impaired)
- R/O reversible causes
- Delirium
- you CAN diagnose MCI when the patient have delirium:
- Based on patient self-report (or collateral)
- Don’t need to administrate MOCA and MMSE (a lot of other factors, such as medication, would affect its result)
- Depression Symptom
- Severe Hypothyroidism ↓
- Alcohol (RF) use (> 3 units per day)
Amnestic MCI
If function is impaired (directly as a result of cognition) → Dementia
