2. Wide QRS + AV dissociation = VT
3. Fusion Beat or Capture Beat (various QRS sizes in one strip) = VT </aside>

• Tachycardia (>100 bpm)
  • Regular rhythm
• Wide QRS
• AV dissociation (P not related to QRS)
• More QRS than P waves
• Fusion/capture beat = diagnostic

  • Fusion beats: when a supraventricular and a ventricular impulse coincide to produce a hybrid complex (SVT + VT)

    

    • Co-existence of wide and intermediate-sized QRS

  • Capture beats: when an occasional, normal sino-atrial node impulse is conducted through to the ventricle

    • narrow QRS

Etiology:

• Scar tissue → re-entry circuit in ventricle
