Process

Egg freeze
- Timing of freezing:
  - Refer to Age vs Female Fertility
  - Best age: before 35 yo.
  - Egg retrieval → procedure + 4 hr freezing procedure
- Ovarian Induction → Retrieve eggs
- Mature eggs will then be frozen
Majority freeze for 4-5 yr.
- Study found in decrease in egg quality when frozen for 10 yrs.
- Caveat: People who froze x 10 yr usually did so at age 20, usually for cancer reason
Egg thaw-cycle
- Sync uterine cycle and the egg
- Day 1 of LMP → Call fertility doctor
- Day 2 of LMP
  - Start on Estrogen x 2 wks
  - Suppress ovulation & Prepare the uterine (7 - 14 mm, trilaminar/peanut butter appearance on US)
- Uterine lining is ready
  - Thaw the egg
  - Fertilize the egg
  - Start taking Progesterone
- 5 Days after Thawing → Embryo transfer (Blastocyst stage)
  - Day 21 of cycle; Day 6 of on Estrogen + Progesterone
  - One embryo implanted to uterus (feels like a pap smear)
    - Thin catheter → cervix → uterine cavity
  - Rest of embryo freeze as Blastocysts
