• Alcohol Use Disorder → presenting with !Alcohol Withdrawal (5 dy) or Alcohol Intox

Pathogenesis

Insufficient/Impaired thiamine absorption and utilization → insufficient energy for neuron → neurodegeneration

Prognosis

Reversible as Wernicke Encephalopathy If untreated, can lead to Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome (irreversible damage) → Amnesia, Cognitive impairment
