Avoid in Neonate (<28 dy):
- Bilirubin displacement
- Ceftriaxone is highly protein bound. It can displace bilirubin from albumin, increasing the amount of unbound (free) bilirubin in the blood.
- Calcium precipitation
- If ceftriaxone is given with IV calcium-containing solutions (e.g., TPN or calcium gluconate), these precipitates can form in the, Lungs, Kidneys, Blood vessels
