• They work by blocking the effects of the sympathetic nervous system, which can help to slow down heart rate and reduce the risk of certain types of arrhythmias.

Examples:

• Cardioselective (beta1): metoprolol , bisoprolol
• Non-selective (beta1, 2): Propranolol (crosses BBB), nadolol,
• Combined (alpha, beta1,2): carvedilol, labetalol
