Large Vessel Vasculitis, a type of AAION

Associated symptoms

• AAION presentation → Acute Visual field defect with RAPD
• Jaw claudication
• Temporal tenderness, Headache
• Scalpe tenderness or sensitivity
• PMR - Polymyalgia rheumatica symptoms: shoulder or hip pain

• 50, female (highest: 70-80 yr

Investigation

• Do ESR (≤ 40 mm/Hr), CRP (≤ 10 mg/L) and start on PO prednisone right away
• Definitive diagnosis: temporal artery biopsy

Treatment

• Oral Corticosteroid (OCS)
