Gaze preference towards the ipsilateral side of the lesion

Horizontal Gaze Pathway

Associated with pons damage

• esp. paramedian pontine reticular formation (PPRF) or the abducens nerve (cranial nerve VI)
• Damage to PPRF, Pons (prior and including CN VI) → bilateral gaze preference to the lesioned side (inability to look to contralateral side)
• VS. Damage to MLF → ipsilateral eye affected, present as INO - Intranuclear ophthalmoplegia

Conditions:

• !Stroke (CVA) → !BA Stroke
• MS - Multiple Sclerosis
