Etiology

• 20% due to bone Metastasis

  • Common for
    • Breast cancer
    • MM - Multiple Myeloma

• 80% due to Paraneoplastic Syndrome → PTHrP

  • Common for
    • SCCs
      • Lung Cancer ***
      • Head and Neck Cancer
      • Esophageal adenocarcinoma
    • Renal Cancer - RCC
    • Gyne Cancers (all 3)
      • Ovarian cancer
      • Breast cancer
      • Endometrial Cancer

• < 1% due to 1-alpha-hydroxylase activity → Calcitriol (1,25 VD)

  • Common for
    • Lymphoma
