Approach to Polyuria

- Is the patient REALLY experiencing polyuria, or is it an increase in urine frequency?
- Confirm 3L urine a day
- If the patient drinks a lot of water, why?
- Psychogenic Polydipsia or Health belief
- Reduce fluid intake and see if the urine output drops
- Investigate causes of polyuria
- Osmotic diuresis
- Water diuresis
- Iatrogenic
- Diuretics use
- Hospitalization
- Renal AKI
