Cisternal: star hyper-density

Prognosis

• !Cerebral Aneurysm: only 50% survive, amongst which only 1/3 recover funtionality

Causes of Immediate morbidity and mortaity

• Rupture associated trauma
• !Acute hydrocephalus
  • A non-communicating Hydrocephalus
• Repeat aneurysm
  • 50% in 48 hours → aneurysm must be secured

Treatment

1. Relieve ICP: EVD
2. Secure aneurysm
   • Endovascular: coiling
   • Microsurgical: clipping

Complication

• 1/3 of !Acute hydrocephalus will turn into SAH-associated Communicating hydrocephalus due to scarring of arachnoid vili
  • Requiring VP Shunt
