A thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) is any disorder defined by:

• Thrombocytopenia ↓ — due to platelet consumption in small-vessel clots.
• MAHA - Microangiopathic hemolytic anemia — schistocytes, ↑LDH, ↓haptoglobin.
  • NO MAHA (low plt only): HIP, IPT
• Organ injury — from microvascular thrombosis (often kidney, brain, liver).
  • HUS = Kidney
  • HELLP = Liver
  • TTP = Brain + normal Coag
  • DIC = Coagulopathy
