Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor

Examples:

• Ramipril
• Enalapril
• Lisinopril
• Perindopril (coversyl®)
• Captopril

→ Available in combination with HCTZ - Hydrochlorothiazide

Effect:

• decrease BP (vasodilation), decrease BV by decreasing sodium re-absorption in the kidney (no aldosterone)
• Also has a plaque stabilizing effect (for atherosclerotic diseases)

Conditions:

• Preferred compared to ARB (-sartan) (except for sBP only HTN)
• HFrEF (HF w/ reduced EF)
• HTN ↑High BP
• Management after MI CAD
• PAD - Peripheral Arterial Disease
• Carotid Disease - asymptomatic
