Indications:

• Age >40 + AUB - Abnormal Uterine Bleeding → worried about Endometrial Cancer </aside>

• History of unopposed estrogen exposure

• Obesity

• PCOS

• Failed medical management of AUB - Abnormal Uterine Bleeding

• Persistent AUB - Abnormal Uterine Bleeding

• Family history of HNPCC

• Whenever you think about it

Procedure

• Office procedure
• Insert speculum
• Tenaculum placed on anterior surface of cervix
  • cervix doesn’t have much sensation, but uterus don’t like that → uterine cramping after procedure
  • Sometimes performed in the OR with sedation if pt can’t tolerate the procedure (pain) or can’t access the uterus in office
• Use pipelle to sample lining from all walls of the uterus

Risks

• Very painful procedure
• infection
