Etiology

• Benign tumor of the thyroid gland leading to autonomous release of T3, T4

• “Hot” nodule

  • Associated with Thyrotoxicosis ↑(hyperthyroidism)

    • Thyroid Toxic adenoma
    • Multinodular Goitre

  • Shows up on RAIU

  • Never malignant, thus no need of Thyroid FNA

    • Issues with doing FNA in a hot module
      • It will come out looking at cancer (looks follicular), but it is NOT cancer -> makes things confusing, and hard to explain to the Pt
