Etiology

• Ischemia (major cause of ATN)
  • Pre-renal AKI can lead to ATN
• Toxin
  • Myoglobin (!Rhabdomyolysis)
  • Hemoglobin (SCD - Sickle Cell Disease (Crsis), massive !Hemolysis )
  • CT Contrast Toxicity (CT Contrast)
  • Drugs
    • Abx: Aminoglycosides, Vancomycin
• !TLS - Tumor lysis syndrome
  • High K+, High Phosphate and low Calcium
• Myeloma Kidney (Cast Nephropathy) (Cast Nephropathy)

Presentation

Signs and Symptoms

• !Hypovolemia ↓, ECFVD - Volume depletion

Risk factors

• Pre-existing Kidney disease
• Pre-existing CVD - Atherosclerosis
• ECFVD - Volume depletion
• Multiple insults (e.g. sepsis + aminoglucosides)
